Everyone. Everyday. Everlasting.
Welcome to Class 1
Class 1 is a year 1 and 2 mixed aged class.
We regularly use 'Class Dojo' to give learning updates and share photographs with our parents. If you would like to register for 'Class Dojo' please speak to Miss Bawden or Mrs Oldbury who will be happy to assist you
Reception and Class 1 have had a fabulous day at Southwell Minster learning about the Nativity story. The children enjoyed role play, crafts, stories and exploring the Minster. We received many lovely comments from the leaders and staff today about how polite, engaged and well behaved all our children are.
Class 1 have been learning about Eva Rothschild who is an Irish sculptor. They read fact files on her life and work and then identified and wrote important facts about her and her work. The children then looked in detail at some of her work and Mrs Oldbury set a challenge for them to create their own sculpture in the Style of Eva Rothschild.
In science Class 1 have learnt about trees. They looked at the parts of a tree, common trees and whether they are evergreen and deciduous. They have also been completing observational drawings of trees too. During half term Class 1 children were set a task of finding out what trees they had in their gardens, local area and any areas they visited.
In PSHE one of our lessons was themed on ‘basic first aid’, so we got an expert in.
Mr Bawden teaches first aid alongside his job as a prison officer. We had the opportunity to ask questions, explore a first aid kit and discuss playground scenarios. We’ve realised we’re all first aiders!
Well done to everyone that entered the Easter competition. It was fabulous to see the creative and artistic range of ideas that clearly showed the children’s knowledge and understanding of Holy Week, symbols and traditions. Mr Green and Miss Oakley found it really difficult to choose winners and were super impressed with all of the entries.
Reception and Class 1 had a visit from the Canal and River Trust Charity and had a talk about water safety.
We have learnt that the best way to stay safe around water is,
‘Stay Away From the Edge!’
We have also learnt the most common reason for people falling in water, can you remember what it was?
(I’ll give you a clue📱)
Here’s a link to the canal and river trust website- there are lots of games and activities and more information for you to look through.
