On Wednesday 3rd August 2022, using the Government's PE and Sport Grant, all our children at Everton Primary School were given the opportunity to attend the Commonwealth Games 2022 being held in Birmingham.
The children in Reception and Key Stage 1 spent the day in Austerfield on a field trip. The children got to touch and hold a variety of insects and reptiles whilst learning all about them; run through a dramatised version of the Three Little Pigs and den building; and had the chance to combat the outdoor adventure assault course.
Archaeology Day has been absolutely brilliant. The language and knowledge that the children have acquired as they have moved around each station has been wonderful. I have been particularly impressed by the children's use of language and new found knowledge to explain their findings. A big 'thank you' to Mr Scott for organising the day, the Bassetlaw Museum for bringing their personal knowledge and resources and parent helpers for their support.
Year 6 had a wonderful time with Mr Alexander and a couple of his cadets from The Elizabethan Academy. The children learnt about basic first aid, survival in the outdoors and den building. They even had a hot chocolate made on the stove!
All classes took part in 'Race for Life'. The children ran to support this important charity and it was lovely to have so many parents and carers join us to cheer them on and encourage them.
Thank you for all your donations to date. If you feel able to donate then please follow this link: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/everton-primary-school-1
Let's see if we can smash last year's amazing total of £1251.25! Thank you for your support.
Year 5 at the Bassetlaw Museum learning about the history of Retford and canals.
Year 5 and 6 learning about canals and civilisations with the Canal and River Trust.

We’re so proud of our Girls Football Team who finished the Bassetlaw tournament undefeated - coming second on goal difference by a single goal!
As part of the cultural capital at Everton Primary are School, Class 2 (Years 3 and 4) went on a three day residential educational visit to Kingswood (Dearne Valley). They took part in activities such as raft building (pictured), archery, abseiling, a high ropes course, orienteering and aeroball amongst others. The children also learnt valuable social and emotional life lessons, such as being away from home, independence, bravery and experiencing activities that they may not have been previously or do again.

On Wednesday 16th March, an external provider from Swimming Services came into Class 2 to talk about how the children can stay safe near and in water.
World Book Day:
We raised a total of £299.50 from the World Book Day event on Thursday 3rd March 2022. That’s a great amount that school can use towards books! We are aiming to raise another £700 over the course of the year to use towards our library books project.

'Children's Mental Wellbeing Week':
As part of the children's wider personal development, we will be focusing on wellbeing throughout the week. The week began with a demonstration of how music can affect our mood. Above you can see the children enjoying Mambo No.5. During the week, 'Safer Internet Day' took place on Tuesday 8th February and Mental Health Awareness on Thursday 10th, when children came in a scarf to raise awareness of mental wellbeing in children. Lessons and assemblies were taught throughout the week using the national 'SCARF' PSHE programme of study.
A huge congratulations to our Indoor Athletics Team who performed and behaved impeccably as they represented the Elizabethan family of schools and came seventh in the Bassetlaw Schools Finals. 25 schools took part and the final result was incredibly close.

Congratulations to Amelia, whose design has been chosen for the front cover of the 400th edition of the HEDS Magazine. Make sure you grab a copy!
Class 2 have been busy planting bulbs at the Metcalfe Field today as 'gifts to the village' with Mr and Mrs Howe. We are all looking forward to going back and seeing how they've bloomed in the spring.
One of our governors - Mrs Sue Hughes - has very kindly been collecting owl pellets for Class 2. Together they have dissected the pellets and discovered what the owls have been eating as part of their diet from the bones collected.

Congratulations to James Dyson who won first prize in the Doncaster Rovers Foundation Schools competition to design a Christmas card. He was awarded a tablet, tickets to a game and other goodies as a reward for his excellent Christmas design.
Congratulations to our Indoor Athletics Team who finished second in the Elizabethan Indoor Athletics Competition and now go on to the County Finals in the new year.
We were able to host our first ever Christmas Craft Afternoon and make Christmas decorations in school with our chosen adult.

It was our pleasure to welcome Suneeta into school to teach us about Diwali and what it means to her as a Sikh. It was a surprise to many of us that Sikhs celebrate Diwali in addition to Hindus.
