Everton Primary School

Everyone. Everyday. Everlasting.

April 2023

The first two weeks of April has consisted of the Easter holidays, but this hasn’t stopped the work going on at Everton Primary School. Before the Easter break our Class 3 children led our Easter Service, which entailed dramatized readings, singing and musical interludes, all enjoyed by their families and staff.

During the Easter holidays one of our parents, Mr Pete Coe, and his team at Retford Ready Mix Concrete and Screed Ltd (www.retfordreadymix.co.uk) kindly donated their time and resources to resurface, fit a bench and create an emblem at the front of school; fix the kitchen roof (felt kindly donated by www.jewson.co.uk); clean the drains; jet wash the front of school and Foundation Stage; deliver new woodchip to the Foundation Stage (woodchip kindly donated by www.proturf.co.uk); as well as garden the ramp flowerbeds and supply a new latch for the ramp gate amongst other things! We thank them for all their hard work.

As a school we must also thank another parent of school, Mr Ben Hunter, and his team at Kixx (www.kixx.org.uk) who have kindly donated brand new ‘Story Bags’ for our Nursery and Reception children. These bags will be used by the children and parents to develop early language and communication skills as they enter Everton Primary School.

Upon returning to school after Easter, the children were joined in school by Kelly and Jack from Cross-Curricular Orienteering. At the end of March we had a permanent course set up around the school grounds and the first day after the Easter holidays we had the Cross-Curricular Orienteering team in to show us how we can utilise it across school and how to link the course into all areas of our learning. The children played some great games to practice following instructions about directions and then learnt some of the key orienteering features. We finished the session by going on a scavenger hunt for the signs. It was so much fun! We can't wait to use the Orienteering course to support our learning and get us active in our future learning.

Everton Primary School is a lovely village school with a very capable, kind and caring staff. If you, or anyone you know, have preschool or primary aged children and would like to make visit to look around our school with a view to attending then please get in touch with us on 01777817350 or email office@everton.notts.sch.uk .

Best wishes,
