November started with all children taking part in a Diwali Dance Workshop put on by the West End in Schools production team. It was a practical and memorable way for our children to learn about Diwali, and the dances really brought the story to life. Mrs Foster, our school cook, also created a homemade curry for us to eat at lunchtime which was delicious.

On Friday 10th November we held a two-minute silence to remember those past and present that have served and protected us so that we have the freedom to come to school without fear. During this month both Class 1 and Class 3 have been on educational visits. Class 1 went are to the Austerfield Study Centre and Austerfield Church, where the children had a wonderful time learning about William Bradford and exploring nature through creativity. Whilst Class 3 went to Whitby for three days, taking part in the ‘Town Trail’, a lighthouse challenge, fossil hunting on the beach, as well as visiting the Lifeboat and Whitby museums and the Endeavour Experience. It was a quiet journey home with some very tired children! Upon their return, some of our Class 3 pupils took part in an Orienteering competition at Worksop College, doing very well in beautiful conditions.

On Monday 13th November we began ‘Anti-bullying week’ with everybody wearing odd socks to remind us that we are all different – and we should celebrate that we are all different! On Friday 17th November we enjoyed ‘Pudsey’ biscuits kindly made by Mrs Foster and Mrs Goddard in the school kitchen for Children in Need Day. On the theme of fundraising, thank you to all parents, carers and members of the community who donated clothes and other items to our ‘Bags 2 School’ event – we managed to raise £135.00.

December sees us enter advent and the countdown to Christmas. Everton Primary School is delighted to invite the village’s ‘Golden Oldies’ residents to watch our performances of the Nativity and ‘Annie’ on Tuesday 19th December, at the Village Hall. The first performance will commence at 9:30am with the second expecting to end at approximately 11am. If you would like to attend please contact Keely Bailey, at Everton Primary School on 01777 817350 or email: office@everton.notts.sch.uk
