    Thu 21 Dec 2023 Mr A Green

As always December is a magical time in school that where the children sparkle in the run up to Christmas. We were incredibly proud of our children in the build up to, and during, their Nativity and Annie performances. Our Reception and Key Stage 1 children performed in the Nativity whilst our Key Stage 2 children that attend our Musical Theatre Club at school with Miss Spencer performed in Annie. It was wonderful to have so many parents, carers and members of the village watch and celebrate our performances.

Over the month of December we invited parents and carers into school to take part in our Christmas Craft Afternoon, where the children were able to make Christmas decorations alongside their trusted adult. Class 2 also led our Christmas Service in church alongside Tony – singing and reading beautifully. Our Reception and Class 1 children went on an educational visit to Southwell Minster and the staff were delighted with all the positive comments about their behaviour and manners.

In sporting news, Class 3 sent an athletics team to the Sports Hall Athletics championships and came first! This means that they will go onto the Bassetlaw Finals in the new year. Class 2 children also went on a ‘Jingle Jog’ at Sherwood Pines, which was a lovely event where the children jogged a 3km route adorned with Santa hats.

In other news, we are still looking for a ‘Parent Governor’, so if you are a parent of school and have any availability to help oversee the running of our wonderful school, then it would be lovely to discuss what the role would entail with you. If you are interested, please could you contact me via Mrs Keely Bailey in the school office on 01777 817350 or email: office@everton.notts.sch.uk

Lastly, thank you to every stakeholder of school – children, parents, carers, professionals, members of our community – who have supported and enabled the school to thrive in the last 12 months. From everyone at Everton Primary School, we wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

    Best wishes,

    Andrew Green
