World Book Day

Phoebe and Izzy introducing Everton Primary School to World Book Day 2023 as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. World Book Day is all about promoting reading for pleasure and offering very child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success - more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income.

West End in Schools - Bringing Books to Life

The ‘West End in Schools - Brining Books to Life’ came into school to show us how to use our imagination in dance to depict the books that we read.
We loved being performers, using actions to perform the retelling of the story of ‘The Enormous Crocodile’.

Class 3 visiting Class 2 to read their information texts about Europe.

'Starbooks'

During the Autumn Term 2022 we invited parents and carers into school to enjoy a coffee, biscuit and read with their children, which we named 'Starbooks'. During the Starbooks events Miss Oakley discussed our phonics scheme - Unlocking Letter and Sounds - as well as discussing the benefits of regular reading with children, comprehension techniques, how to complete book reviews and how to enjoy time together whilst reading.

Thank you to all the parents and carers that shared their time with us, and we look forward to the next one.
