Information about our private music tutor - Jonathan Rider - and what he can offer our children:

"I studied music education at Durham University in the 90’s and worked as a secondary school teacher before establishing myself as a freelance musician and music teacher in 2000. I teach and play the guitar, clarinet, flute and saxophone. I am also an experienced conductor, arranger and musical director.

My school based teaching is done on a one to one basis and takes place during the school day. Each lesson lasts for twenty minutes and costs £10. I invoice at the start of each half term to be settled within a couple of weeks or so. I prefer to invoice by email if possible.

Generally I expect students to have their own instruments although I have a small number of flutes and clarinets I can loan out. I’m happy to give advice on types of instrument to get and where to obtain them.

Usually I only take students from Y3 and above as from experience I have found that younger children don’t have the necessary finger dexterity and co-ordination to make much progress. However this is not an absolute rule!"
