Everton Primary School

Everyone. Everyday. Everlasting.

March 2025

At Everton Primary School we always try to ensure that our children get opportunities to make decisions on their education and about our school, therefore, each year children are able to apply to be on our School Council. This month our School Council went down to London, where they took part in a tour and workshop at the Houses of Parliament – meeting and speaking to Jo White (MP for Bassetlaw) – and travelled on the London Eye River Cruise down the Thames too. The School Council members were incredibly well behaved throughout the whole day and asked some very pertinent questions.

In school, World Book Day was a wonderful opportunity for our children to dress up as their favourite book character and celebrate their love of reading. As a school we hired the West End in Schools company to come in and spend time with each class to tell the story of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ through dance and drama. We were also delighted to welcome Dom Pollard, a local author and illustrator, into our EYFS and Year 1 and 2 classes to read one of his books – ‘I thought I saw an Octopus’ – to the children and discuss his illustrations in it too.

Throughout the Spring term our Year 5 and 6 children have been attending swimming lessons at Swim Stars in Bawtry and we are incredibly proud of all of them for achieving a variety of distance certificates ranging from 10m to 200m. They are now working on water safety and wearing enjoying swimming in their comfy clothes.

Please could I take this opportunity whilst writing to you all, to thank everyone who attended and supported our ‘Bonkers Bingo’ event. It was wonderful to bring the local community together and raise funds for our school in a fun-filled way. We all hope you enjoyed it as much as we did – it certainly was ‘bonkers’!

Everton Primary School is a wonderful, friendly and happy school which gives opportunities for children to be children and a wide range of activities and cultural capital experiences such as the ones described above. If you are currently looking for Nursery and Reception places then please apply to join the EverTeam! If you would like to arrange a school visit or ask any questions about school admission, then please feel free to call or email school on 01777817350 or office@everton.notts.sch.uk
