Everyone. Everyday. Everlasting.
As part of the second month of our academic year in school the children have been applying for roles within school. We have a new School Council, who will meet regularly to discuss all things ‘school’ with me and share their opinions, and those of their peers, in order to make Everton Primary School the best it can be. We have also appointed School Librarians, who will look after our School Library and ensure that children maintain their love of reading across all year groups.
This month our EYFS children visited Misterton Fire Station and learnt all about staying safe, whilst also having a tour of the station, trying on a fire fighter uniform, sitting in a real-life fire engine and getting to spray the hose! The Misterton Fire Fighters are returning to school to speak to all our children about staying safe during Bonfire Night.
As part of their focus on World War 2, our Year 5 and 6 pupils were treated to a traditional WW2 meal of corned beef cooked with potatoes and onions, prepared by Mrs Lewins’ mum. Some loved it, some weren’t too keen, but it is important that children get a ‘flavour’ of what life was like in the past. Meanwhile, our Year 3 and 4 children we started to explore how to play the recorder with Miss Spencer and our Year 1 and 2 children are preparing to lead our Harvest festival service.
In other news, some of our Year 5 and 6 children took part in the Bassetlaw Schools Cross Country event at Retford Oaks Academy. This was a lovely event in the sunshine and our participants did us proud. Also, the PTA’s Halloween Disco is taking place at the Village Hall on 24th October from 4.30pm – 7.00pm (EYFS & KS1 4.30-5.30pm and KS2 5.45-7.00pm).
A reminder that this year we are offering private music sessions for babies, toddlers and children under the age of 5 years on a Wednesday morning in school from 10-11am courtesy of ‘Jack in the Box Musical Memories’. Please contact Elaine on 07717758458 or email: bielbyelaine@gmail.com for more details.
For your information we currently have some child places available at Everton Primary School. If you, or anyone you know, would like a school place or to visit our lovely school, then please feel free to contact me via Mrs Keely Bailey in the school office on 01777 817350 or email: office@everton.notts.sch.uk
