Everton Primary School

Everyone. Everyday. Everlasting.

October 2023

October has been a very successful month for the children of Everton Primary School. Firstly, our School Cross Country Team finished third overall at the Bassetlaw Schools competition at the Retofrd Oaks Academy. Three of our pupils – Oscar, George and Daisy – have even been selected to compete at the Nottinghamshire County Cross Country Final due to their performance. After that, all of our children from Reception to Year 6 qualified as ‘Mini First Aiders’. As a school, with the support of the PTA, we thought that a first aid qualification and experience could be vital for our children.

Our Harvest Festival Service was led by our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children. It was wonderful to hear such beautiful singing, fluent reading and magnificent actions the children displayed. Thank you for all the kind donations which were passed on to the Bassetlaw Food Bank. Next, the whole school were given a demonstration of an Aquabox by Mike and Linda from the Retford Rotary Club. An Aquabox includes a pump which filters dirty water and produces clean water. The Rotary Club use some of their funds to send Aquaboxes to countries around that world that have suffered natural disasters and have no clean running water.

In the next couple of weeks, after half term, we will be taking part in a Diwali Dance Workshop which has been purchased by our PTA, and will be a practical and memorable way for our children to learn about Diwali; Class 1 and Class 3 are going on educational visits to the Austerfield Study Centre and Whitby; and the whole school will be taking part in Anti-bullying week amongst many other things!

If any parents/carers (new or old) feel that they could help support our school's PTA then it would be most helpful and beneficial. The PTA have done so much to raise money and support the children of our school in the last couple of years and it'd be great to get some new members. If you would like any further information about being a PTA member, then please feel free to contact me via the school office or access the PTA Facebook page: The PTA also run a school lottery that you can enter if you so wish: All funds raised from PTA events go towards supporting experiences – like the Mini First Aid event above – for our current pupils.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that we still have a space in each of our current Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 6 age groups for this academic year. If you would like to arrange a visit to this wonderful village school, then please call or email us to arrange a visit ( or 01777817350).

Best wishes,

Andrew Green
