Wedding and Baptism

Our children experienced a Christian ceremony through drama and role play to support RE and PSHE. By learning Christian traditions — what a wedding and baptism mean, why they matter to believers, how they connect to themes of commitment, community and welcome — the children continue to build their understanding of Religion and Belief. Understanding Christianity is part of the children's deeper understanding of the diverse society they will grow up in as well as history and traditions of British life, whilst the Church of England remains the majority faith tradition in England.

This event also supported the school with both its community and cultural literacy. By using our local church as a real, living space rather than a classroom adds authenticity. The children gained a sense of how these spaces feel, what they are designed for, and why they matter to the people who use them, which builds the kind of empathetic, grounded understanding that equality education aims for.
