    Mon 31 Oct 2022 Mr A Green

In the last month the children of Everton Primary School have been incredibly busy in the lead up to Harvest. Children in our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 led our Harvest Festival Service with a range of harvest songs and role play.

The children of our School Council have decided that they would like to focus on plastic pollution and recycling this academic year. Therefore, alongside RotaKids, they have been on a litter pick around the village. They were pleasantly surprised at how little litter they could find around Everton and would like to thank the local residents and community for this. The School Council now plan on giving an assembly to the rest of school about plastic pollution and recycling to ensure that the next generations of our village maintain the same pride in it as current residents. We have also arranged for a local recycling company – Go Green – to come into school for the day to set each class tasks regarding recycling and making the world a better place.

Miss Oakley and Mrs Milburn have rolled out our new phonics scheme in school – Unlocking Letters and Sounds – and the children have taken to this extremely well. Miss Oakley is starting ‘Starbooks’ sessions after half term for parents to come into school and learn about the new phonics scheme, read with their children in our lovely new library and enjoy a coffee and biscuit while doing so. In sporting news, the school football team have continued to play well this month, winning against Misson and Beckingham Primary Schools as well as an incredible 8-8 draw with North Wheatley Primary School.

We are extremely grateful to our PTA members who continue to be a very important part of our school community. Their most recent enterprise was to set up an Everton Primary School lottery – which is now in place! It is a weekly lottery to help raise funds for Everton Primary School. 40% of tickets sold will go directly to school. Tickets for the lottery are just £1 per ticket, per week and can be paid for up front on debit card or by Direct Debit. A ticket consists of one, 6 digit number chosen randomly, or by you. With a guaranteed winner from Everton Primary School each week (prize dependent on the number of tickets sold). All tickets will also be entered into a national, Your School Lottery draw, to win a top prize of £25,000. For anyone wanting to purchase a ticket, our first draw will be on Saturday 3rdDecember and will every Saturday from this date. We hope lots of you will be willing to support.
