    Mon 30 Dec 2024 Mr A Green

As always at Everton Primary School, the lead up to Christmas was a very special and exciting time. Our Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 children practiced and took part in a Nativity performance, whilst our Musical Theatre Key Stage 2 children performed a special version of Jungle Book. I would like to thank all of those who came to watch our Nativity and Jungle Book productions at the Village Hall, we hope you enjoyed it.

Throughout December our children enjoyed several special occasions within school. Firstly, we had ‘West End in Schools’ perform a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ pantomime for us. Then we took part in a ‘Jingle Jog’ wearing Santa hats and Christmas jumpers down at the Metcalfe Field alongside our parents and carers. Following this, we invited parents and carers into school to take part in our annual ‘Christmas Crafternoon’, where together we create Christmas decorations and memories. Our School Choir took part in the Village Carols at Holy Trinity Church and some children attended the Christingle also. Finally, we enjoyed a visit from Santa and Christmas parties before heading to Everton Church for our Christmas service at the end of term.

It is also important to mention our School Council, where as part of their mission to support those locally, went to the Eco Power Stadium (home of Doncaster Rovers) and worked alongside the Club Doncaster Foundation to support vulnerable and elderly residents of Doncaster create Christmas cards and take part in a ‘Reindeer Hunt’. We are very proud of them. The School Council are now looking at doing a similar project for local residents of Everton village in the new year.

  • December 2024

    Sat 21 Dec 2024 Mr A Green

During November it is vitally important to educate our children about Remembrance Day and why it is still celebrated today. As part of our Remembrance Day celebrations, the children created some beautiful artwork which adorned the front off school, alongside some crocheted poppies kindly donated by Mrs Stephanie Green. Thank you to members of the public who have commented on how lovely our Remembrance display outside school is.

Children in both our EYFS and Class 1 have created poppy art and prints, alongside making poppy biscuits with a delicious bright red icing!  Our Reception and Nursery have also enjoyed their bonfire safety topic – creating a ‘fake’ bonfire and enjoying tasty chocolate and sprinkles covered ‘sparklers’. Miss Oakley has some wonderful videos of the children performing drama as different types of fireworks.

Class 2 have focused their attention on ‘Snow White in New York’, a twist on the original ‘Snow White’ story, creating some beautiful writing. Some Year 3 and 4 children also enjoyed an afternoon of Basketball and Trampolining at the Elizabethan Academy, which was a great experience and enjoyed by all.

Our oldest children in Year 5 and 6 have been preparing for their residential trip to Hagg Farm in the Peak District. The children are looking forward to caving, canoeing and filed studies – though they will need to wrap up warm with the snow I can currently see outside my window!

As we come towards the festive season, if you would like to attend our Nativity and Jungle book productions at the Village Hall, then you are cordially invited to attend on Tuesday 17th December 2024. Doors open at 9.30am for a 9.45am start. Please can you call or email Mrs Bailey in the school office to confirm your attendance (contact details below).
